What is all this Wyre Forest Agenda malarkey? You are looking at it.

So I guess you are here because you want to know what The Wyre Forest Agenda is, so let's look it up in the dictionary...

There you go. What, you want more information, sheesh...

Kidderminster 2004: I bright good-looking guy (hey I'm writing this I can put what I like!) called Tavis Pitt had a good idea to stand up for what he believes in and have a stab a local politics. He gets his nomination papers sorted out and stands in the 2004 District Election in Wyre Forest as an Independent candidate in the Greenhill ward of Kidderminster.

A quick run down the checklist then: (1) Map of the ward - check; (2) manifesto - check; (3) flyers - check; (4) campaign strategy - keep it clean, keep it lean - check; anything else? Well there are window displays and car stickers - I can do that! - check. Ummm, posters and signboards - nah, not enough time and no resources. A weblog? Well that Liberal chap (Mike Oborski) has one, and since I'm a IT professional I could easily knock one up - bingo the 'agenda is born! However, it wasn't until the end of my campaign that I actually thought about having a weblog, and then it started out as a diary of my adventures on the campaign trail. Nevertheless here it is and I have been blogging ever since.

So it has now become my third child; a resource and time hungry savage that keeps me amused from one blog to the next, but I do enjoy it really and its one of those things I would recommend to anyone. It is a weblog, basically a website where I write about things (blogging) that interest me, annoy me or make me laugh, oh, but only in the context of Wyre Forest. Why just Wyre Forest? Well I think if I didn't concentrate on one genre I would loose interest, so I just chose something that (a) fits in with my interest in local politics and local history and (b) because I'm talking about something that is a part of thousands of people, not just me.

It has become a bit more than that though, I like to think of it as a public podium for anyone to contribute to and I also like to think of it as a local think tank, discussing a local issue so much so eventually a bright idea will pop out the other end. Hey it's also a place where everyone knows your name and a place where we rip off TV slogans for our own personal gratification :-).

Here is what people have said about the 'agenda (or me):

"...the Wyre Forest Agenda, a superior blog..."
Mo'nonymous

"The layout of your web site is rubbish - sort it out!!"
Joe Rowe

"Your blog is excellent and has been really informative for me."
Richard Berry

"Tavis. Great to have the blog back as good as ever."
F. Davenport

"[The Wyre Forest Agenda], now that is impressive"

"What on earth is the Wyre Forest Agenda though?"
Tom Watson

"...you probably have millions of bloggers world wide on your fantastic site..."
Nigel Addison

"Tav I have just found your blog and I have to say I'm impressed"
rich_edwards79

"I've just come across your blog and wow 'Wyre Forest'"
Mandy

"I was accused, through a comment in an earlier blog, of being a UKIP supporter. Well Mr. Pitt, I'm not."

"The thing is - oh dear, Tavis - you read the Guardian?"
Cheryl

"Tavis Pitt reminds me of a group of German local authority members..."
Clive Soley

"I would have thought any councillor worth his or her salt would make themselves aware of local issues by reading... ...the fantastic Wyre Forest Agenad."
Kidderguy

What about that, impressed?

Arh, thank you for that Julian. With a Facebook page and a Facebook event page with the same logo it gets a little confusing. I would suggest you make this an annual event and invest in a website. Nothing complicated needed, something as simple as Norfolk's Job Fair for instance.

Tav, with respect I think you may be mistaken - I typed that "the event has been supported by grant aid from Wyre Forest District Council" on the event page and it is still there.
As a WFDC venue is being hired, and as it is a community event the...

I bet if the 'Agenda was around in the 1960/70s they would be saying the same thing.

It's not the 60's or 70's anymore John. Times, materials, planning & design and consumer demand has moved on. I also hope the regeneration is a good one for Stourport.

Don't take this thread too seriously 'Stupid Sandra'. No, the Health Concern posse are out of shot quickly closing in on the liberals. Some dressed in dungarees, Stetsons, cowboy boots with a shotgun over their arm, others with pointy hats and white sheets...

For ill-mannered 'Sandra's' information Siri Hayward is still a very active party member and Graham Ballinger left because the group said it wouldn't nominate him as a Committee Chair and the party was not prepared to have him as a Candidate this May, we have someone far better!

Do you realise how stupid you make YOURSELF look every time you denigrate someone? Why refer to Health Concern as idiots? I mean Graham Ballinger can't be stupid as he saw the light and left your crap party long ago - and Paul Harrison, oh and...

This is my Elvis it was bought from wales as a present for my birthday as a lot of Elvis fans are in the Peacock. We thought it would be nice to have him stood at the pub for everyone to see. I'm glad you all like it and enjoy looking at him. The king as left the building :-)
