Have you got a dartboard?
by Tav

It is funny what you can find on Facebook. I found this photo...

WFDC Cabinet 2011/12
WFDC Cabinet 2011/12 [Jules Phillips]

However, more interesting are the comments:

Helen Dyke

Is it really safe to publish pictures of the Cabinet?

No, but with the industrious use of a printer, we could swap the targets on Wednesday night...

Wyre Forest safe in your hands? :-)

What does Helen Dyke mean, "Is it really safe to publish pictures of the Cabinet?" What? Does she think it will turn up on a weblog for something? … oh … oh, yeah, she's right it has!

This picture shows exactly what is wrong with the cabinet - it resembles more a kindergarden . not one sign of maturity in sight.

@Tav: It was a joke or have you lost your sense of humour?

The Cabinet: Oh boy, where do I start. To be honest here I think to have a dash of youth amongst it's ranks is not all together a bad thing. But, and it's a big BUT, the naivety of the current Wyre Forest Cabinet is staggering. The proof of my view is the recent plight of Manor Farm; where The Cabinet were totally unaware that it is a functional farm and is in fact a family home!

The three Sutton Park representatives seem to be oblivious to the wider district beyond Sutton Park. Perhaps this is why they had an independent group brought in to organise the locations of the Traveller Sites - but even a £17,500 fee was disastrous!

In the last 12 months alone there has been a string of controversial decisions made around the Cabinet table. Our Council leader, our Council Chairman and the remainder of the Cabinet members are clearly the crux of the problem; and with the aid of a rather mute Conservative representation, the death of democracy was assured for the district. The list of controversy is endless, and I have real fears that unless these issues are not kept alive - they will be left forgotten for the Wyre Forest Conservatives to fight another day. THIS CANNOT BE ALLOWED TO HAPPEN!

With the endless issues that have arisen in Wyre Forest since I've been commenting, the real horror is the apathy aimed at the constituents of the district who ask for an adequate voice. For a supposedly fair and consistent council to bleat on about democracy, it shows how out of touch they are beyond their wards. I have not read one comment who supports the Cabinet's actions. And most importantly - I have not spoken to one person who supports them either; and this includes strong Conservatives.

With the shameful turn-out at the last local elections, it proves beyond any doubt how this Conservative administration has alienated both it's core voter and the electorate they aspire to serve. Instead of being alarmed at this, Councillor John Campion turned this enormous snub as a curious victory. How on earth Councillor Campion can claim to be representing the majority, when over 60% of the electorate didn't feel compelled to vote for anyone!

The trouble is that the actions of the Conservative stranglehold has in certain quarters tainted the reputation of their opposing parties. Few know that WFDC have a five strong controlling Tory Cabinet; and I strongly feel that this lack of public knowledge should be addressed rather urgently to the electorate of Wyre Forest. Few know that adequate debate has literally vanished from the council chamber which has proved to be a death knell in a democratic full council. Again - in my very humble opinion - the public need to be made aware of this also.

I have no personal beef with The Cabinet, Famous Five, or whatever you want to call them. But I do have an issue with their motives for the district. They do not have the majority support of the voting public, they do not have representation from every town in the district and they are in fact an unelected body that have been cherry picked to implement decisions for the whole of Wyre Forest! Sadly their decision making is all rather selective - and shows obvious immaturity!

Which of the puppets has Stephen Clee's hand up it - Is it A) Where am I? B) That's another fine mess I've got us into C) The banality of evil D) Kim Il Jong E) I work for free. Correct answer gets first two hours free car parking or a guided tour round Lowe Lane by Marcus Hart.

@Tav: I'm afraid I've just lost patience with the whole thing, and faith in the public having a clue what's in their own best interests. Kind of makes it difficult for me to make constructive comments so I mostly don't bother any more.

Arh, thank you for that Julian. With a Facebook page and a Facebook event page with the same logo it gets a little confusing. I would suggest you make this an annual event and invest in a website. Nothing complicated needed, something as simple as Norfolk's Job Fair for instance.

It's not the 60's or 70's anymore John. Times, materials, planning & design and consumer demand has moved on. I also hope the regeneration is a good one for Stourport.

Don't take this thread too seriously 'Stupid Sandra'. No, the Health Concern posse are out of shot quickly closing in on the liberals. Some dressed in dungarees, Stetsons, cowboy boots with a shotgun over their arm, others with pointy hats and white sheets...

For ill-mannered 'Sandra's' information Siri Hayward is still a very active party member and Graham Ballinger left because the group said it wouldn't nominate him as a Committee Chair and the party was not prepared to have him as a Candidate this May, we have someone far better!
