A new FOI Friday blog courtesy of Mr. King:

One of my prized possessions in my collection (the Wyre Forest Ephemera Museum) is a copy of the book, 'Old Stourport' by I. L. Wedley. Not only is the book fascinating by the previous owner meticulously cut of newspaper cutting and glued or placed them in the book. Each newspaper cutting relates to parts of Stourport the author was discussing.

The Museum

I was chatting with friends about my emigration and my friend pointed out that I will miss the opening of the new Carpet Museum in Kidderminster. It is due to open in October 2012. Sadly it's true, I will miss this :-(.

Subterranean Kiddy'
by Tav

There have been a few blogs I have written about secret tunnels and hidden caverns, however this blog is about a tunnel but it's not a secret tunnel. In fact the myth behind it was busted by the Shuttle newspaper in the 1950s (known then as the Kidderminster Shuttle). Shock and horror I know, but it's true, here's the article...

Mark Garnier MP [Wyre Forest, Conservative] has distributed his January newsletter, so I'm adding here, in case anyone isn't on his unsolicited email list, I added a copy here.

The Blackstone Legend
by Tav

During my packing, that's been going on for days, I came to be large chest that stores all my ephemera and curios. Which I call the Wyre Forest Ephemera Museum _ my wife calls it 'detritus'. Anyway, I had a few moments to reminisce and looking through papers, magazines, photos, postcards, etc. I came across 'The Times of Bewdley', a spoof newspaper from by-gones days of Bewdley. On page 5 there was an article entitled 'Blackstone Legend'...

Cloudy night
by Tav

Last night we travelled to Worcester Woods for the stargazing event held by Worcester Astronomical Society. Unfortunately there was way too much cloud cover to see anything, but inside the Countryside Centre amateur astronomers put on a BBC stargazing video, gave the kids a question & answer session and showed them how telescopes work. There was also a fantastic display with photos. The kids enjoyed it and learnt something new so it got the thumbs up from me, despite the weather.

Commons Sense @ Hartlebury Common
by Stephen Brown

Following discussions with local people, and some good advice from nice folks with a knowledge of process and good authority on Commons protection matters (thank you all!) about the way to proceed on the issue of trying to save Hartlebury Common, so that all local people have a legitimate say in the matter: 2012 presents us with a new opportunity to re-build the consensus and get Worcestershire County council to listen to us.

Just for your information and to demonstrate how transparency empowers us all. If you look here on the 'What Do They Know' website, you can see Tom King has asked about street parties to all district councils in Worcestershire and the county...

A 'hidden agenda'? I guess you will have to ask Tom King on that. However, I believe, the Wyre Forest Labour group are 'machine-gunning' FOI's hoping something sticks. It worked with 'poverty wages', Tom King blogged about it and the Shuttle ran...

Given the cost to the public of FOI requests this is a stupid waste of public money.
For your information Farfield will go for a street closure I am sure.

What's the story here - can't see anything to get excited about street parties that require a FOI request- what am I missing here? What is the hidden agenda?

Silly me I'm losing it. My mother bought it for me for Christmas and I tried it underwater and mounted on the handlebars of a bicycle. I thought the kids would be interested in it, but only I was. Now I remember an adjustable strap that came with it. It must fit around the forehead.

Opps my bad. I sincerely apologise Stephen, it was totally my fault. ...unless I can blame in on my intern – only joking, is that too soon? I will rectify my mistake.

Hi Neil, yes indeed the follow up posts to my own posts are not mine. I do not support HS2 and neither is it Green Party policy to support HS2.
